Future of popular Liverpool music venue under threat.
A popular music venue is at risk of closure due to Liverpool City Council giving permission for neighbouring flats to have windows installed that will face onto the venue.

24 Kitchen Street, located in the Baltic Triangle are concerned that having residents living so close to the venue will lead to noise complaints, which could result in the venue being closed down.
In a statement published on social media, 24 Kitchen Street have said they have been advised they would have to apply for ‘temporary event notices’ in order to host louder and more bass heavy events.
The venue believes this would affect 60-90 shows a year and restrict their creative freedom.
Over previous years many small, grassroots venues have been forced to close down.
With Liverpool being a UNESCO World Heritage site for music, 24 Kitchen Street feel it is ironic that the city council is failing to protect independent music venues.

A spokesperson for Liverpool City Council said: "The city council recently adopted the Agent of Change policy to ensure more weight was given to music venues such as 24 Kitchen Street in cases such as this. And to ensure future relations between the venue and the residents is based on a healthy footing, the city council is also looking at a Deed of Easement which could provide legal assurances to the existing position of all parities concerned."
