Paul McCartney, alongside daughters Stella and Mary, are celebrating ten years since the launch of their non-for-profit campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the detrimental environmental impact of animal agriculture and industrial fishing.

The campaign encourages people to give up meat for at least one day a week, in hope that gradually people will cut meat out of their diets permanently.

Paul McCartney, who has famously been a vegetarian since the early 1970s said today:

“10 years of Meat Free Monday – I can’t believe it! It’s beautiful, and the support we’ve had from all these lovely people – you and all the other lovely people – it’s been great. It’s a simple idea that people have caught onto. They love it, we love it, the planet loves it, everybody loves it, the animals love it. It’s Meat Free Monday – happy 10 years!”.

In the ten years since Meat Free Monday was launched, the impact that our diet has on climate change is now more widely known than ever before.
