Strawberry Field in Woolton has won this year’s best tourist attraction award at the Staycation Awards 2019.

The world famous south Liverpool attraction, fought off competition from Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter and the National Coal Mining Museum to take the award at the ceremony in London.

The site, made famous by The Beatles, opened up to the public in September 2019, having previously being a children’s home.

Now visitors can enjoy an interactive exhibition not only about John Lennon and The Beatles, but also learn about the history of the site and enjoy exploring the peaceful gardens.

The Staycation awards celebrate everything which is great about taking a holiday in Britain and highlight tourist attractions that go above and beyond to welcome their guests.

Tourists come from all over the world to see the famous red gates.

With more and more people deciding to take a holiday in Britain, tourist attractions such as Strawberry Field will be looking to make the most of these opportunities and will hopefully benefit financially.

Funded by the Salvation Army, Strawberry Field is not only an award- winning tourist attraction, but is also a training hub for those who find gaining employment challenging.
